Skating School

Welcome to Northwell Health Ice Center Skating School, the premier skating school on Long Island. Our programs are for all ages and levels; for skaters who simply want to enjoy the recreational benefits of skating or hope to pursue the Olympic dream. Our coaching staff includes National, International, World and Olympic ranked coaches. All coaches at Northwell Health Ice Center Skating School are members of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and are dedicated to providing our skaters with a safe and fun environment.

The Northwell Health Ice Center Skating School uses the curriculum established by Learn to Skate USA. This program will enable participants to achieve the necessary skills to either skate for fun or to be able to advance to a competitive structure of U.S. Figure Skating competition. Whether you are looking for a learn to skate class or a complete training program to be an elite figure skater Northwell Health Ice Center is the place for you to enjoy the experience in a state-of-the-art brand new facility.

Below you will find detailed information to help you have a fun and successful skating experience at Northwell Health Ice Center.

PROGRAM
Learn to Skate USA. This learn to skate program includes basic thru advanced levels. All skaters will receive US Figure Skating membership.

ARRIVAL
Please try to arrive 15 minutes prior to your class time. Go to the group class desk located in the lobby to check in.

SKATE RENTAL
Skate Rentals are $5.00.

ATTIRE
Proper attire is important. The skating school recommends gloves and a warm sweater. Please no snowsuits or ski jackets. Helmets at all ages are required.  If wearing hockey skates, a hockey helmet is required with full cage.

PRACTICE
We encourage you to practice other than your lesson day.

PARENTS
Professionals are not permitted to speak to parents during class time. If you have a problem please speak to someone in the skating school office and they will be happy to help you. Parents are NEVER allowed to step on the ice during group lessons.

REFUNDS
There will be no refunds after registration.

MAKE UP CLASSES
Only one make up session in the twelve week session is allowed and that class must be made up on a different day with in the twelve week semester.

 

Guest Coach Requirements

  • Guest coach needs to be approved by Northwell Health Ice Center prior to taking the ice.
  • Coaching fee is $15 an hour   
  • Pro fee is $15 per session regardless of length of lesson and is payable at the time of lesson.
  • Instructor needs to sign an Ice Rental agreement and provide current Liability Insurance with proper designations under "Certificate Holder"
